What would you do if you came across a wild wolf wounded and stranded in an icy creek? These folks had just such an encounter, but the wolf he stumbled across was near death, desperately stuck in an icy river in Italy.
The Monte Adone Centre, a volunteer organization that rescues and rehabilitates injured wildlife moved quickly to act. This video shows the dramatic rescue that followed and the incredible and life-saving efforts of the volunteers.
The wolf, later named Navarre, was undernourished, paralyzed in his hind legs, and had lead pellets lodged his body. After two weeks of intensive care, the wolf regained his ability to walk. Navarre was then transferred to an enclosure that would allow him to fully recover before he could eventually be released back into the wild.
