The Passage Panhandlers Help the Homeless by Doing Something Different

The charity organization, The Passage, provides resources and assistance to those less fortunate individuals that are living on the streets. The Passage takes its values and ethos from the teachings and example of St Vincent De Paul, a Christian and social reformer, who co-founded the Daughters of Charity in 1633. Vincent believed in action rather than words and in hands-on service to vulnerable people. Their mission as stated on their site:
“Our mission is to provide resources which encourage, inspire and challenge homeless people to transform their lives”
The Passage fulfills its mission by providing:
homelessness prevention projects;
day centre services;
outreach services;
hostel accommodation;
supported semi-independent accommodation.

Here are some of their individual collection volunteers at work:

Here is a short video of just one of the people that they have helped.

Please take the time to check out The Passage and, if you are one of our many UK fans, consider volunteering your time to this amazing organization.
