Public sand art on beautiful beaches is certainly not a new thing, but I’ve never seen anything quite like this before! The artist, Jamie Harkins, has been getting his audience ready for beach season by creating these really wild pieces in the sand.
The best part of this is that Harkins gets real people to pose with his art, it certainly puts a certain spin on the work!
When asked about his motivation during an interview with The New Zealand Herald Harkins explained, “We’ve seen other people doing stuff on beaches, but it’s always been geometric, flat shapes, like a pattern, so we thought we’d get into the whole 3D thing. And I kind of like the fact that it disappears at the end of the day when the tide comes in. It makes it impermanent.”
